Youth

INTRODUCTION

The youth ministry is committed to the reality that young people are an important and integral part of our parish community. The youth program seeks to foster maturing in faith of the youth of our parish and the surrounding community. We affirm the gifts of our youth and we foster opportunities for young people to share their gifts with the larger community. The spiritual and social needs of the youth are to be met with the committed leadership, guidance and support of our parish adults. The adults and youth of our parish are therefore provided with the opportunity to grow together in Christian faith.

HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH MINISTRY PROGRAM

The focus of our High School Youth Ministry is to reach out to our youth to bring them into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Indeed, all that we do in our community is to lead to this goal. Our gatherings take place on Sunday evening following our Sunday evening liturgy. We gather in the rectory basement meeting area and begin with a social time which includes snacks. Included in our time together is a time of prayer, bible Study which includes a video presentation, time of sharing, a current topic of discussion related to issues in the lives of our youth, and a social time after our prayer time which concludes the evening. We invite all who would like to join us who are of high school age to contact us if you require more information (call the office at 519-485-1802) or just join us Sunday evening. We would be glad to see you with us at any time. Know that you are invited and welcome to be with us.

SUNDAY FRIENDS PROGRAM

On Sunday morning at the 10:00 a.m. liturgy, we have a weekly program for our young people from the ages of 3 to 6. We ask the young people to join us at the back of the Church to be involved in the liturgy procession. There are a team of adult leaders and high school students who assist our young children and are with them as they together walk to the front of the Church. After a short prayer with them, they gather with the adult leaders in the sacristy where they share the bible stories and learn about the life of Jesus. There is often a craft or drawing which they take home with them. They re-join their parents and family in the main body of the Church. If you would like to be involved or to involve your children in this important ministry, please call the office for further details at 519-485-1802. This program runs from September to June.
