St. Peter's Seminary Celebrates 100 Years

At 6:00pm on Sept. 14, 1912, Bishop Fallon officially launched his new seminary at his residence next to St. Peter’s Cathedral Basilica. With his Oblate missionary spirit, he envisioned training priests for Canada and beyond. He saw the seminary as one place, among others in the diocese, where Catholic education could be promoted on many levels. He insisted that his seminary have a strong pastoral orientation. He wanted solid training for students in spirituality, sound theology and powerful preaching skills. 

A highlight of the 100th Anniversary celebrations will be the Mass presided at by Bishop Fabbro on Wednesday, May 23 at the Cathedral. Numerous other events will detail the remarkable influence that the seminary has made on our Canadian Church and beyond. It is time to thank God and each other for the graces given to us through St. Peter’s Seminary. Please come and celebrate with us for at least one of these events. Bishop Fallon will be smiling!
