Pastoral Appointments and Changes

August 9: Bishop Fabbro announces the following pastoral appointments and changes:

It was previously announced that effective July 4, 2016, Rev. Hugo Santa Cruz, FMM, was appointed Parochial Vicar of St. George Parish, London. Fr. Santa Cruz has now arrived in the diocese and has been appointed Parochial Vicar of St. Michael Parish, Leamington and Priest-Chaplain to Migrant Workers. Rev. Eduardo Barrera, FMM, remains Parochial Vicar of St. Michael Parish, Leamington, but is no longer Priest-Chaplain to Migrant Workers.

It was previously announced that effective July 4, 2016, Rev. Pedro Zuñiga, FMM, was appointed Parochial Vicar of St. Michael Parish, Leamington. Fr. Zuñiga, who is scheduled to arrive in the diocese on August 25, 2016, has been appointed Parochial Vicar of St. George Parish, London.

Rev. Wayne Lobsinger, Pastor of St. Thomas Parish in Waterdown, Ontario, Diocese of Hamilton, has been appointed a member of the part-time faculty at St. Peter’s Seminary as Spiritual Director for Seminarians, effective August 1, 2016.

Rev. Mariaraj Irudayam, OFM Cap., Pastor of the clustered parishes of St. Mary, Blenheim and St. Michael, Ridgetown, was reassigned by his community and has returned to India, effective June 15, 2016.

Rev. Arokia Doss Savurimuthu, OFM Cap., Associate Pastor of the clustered parishes of St. Mary, Blenheim and St. Michael, Ridgetown, was reassigned by his community to Winnipeg, MB, effective August 1, 2016.

Rev. John Juhl, OFM Cap., has been assigned Parish Administrator of the clustered parishes of St. Mary, Blenheim and St. Michael, Ridgetown, effective August 1, 2016.

Rev. Arokiadoss Velanganni, OFM Cap., has been assigned Parochial Vicar of the clustered parishes of St. Mary, Blenheim and St. Michael, Ridgetown, effective August 1, 2016.

Rev. Paul Duplessie, OFM Cap. and Rev. Gerry Craig, OFM Cap., will be residing at St. Francis Friary in Blenheim effective September 1, 2016. They will have faculties and are both willing to assist pastorally in the diocese.

Rev. Stephen Van Massenhoven, OFM Cap. was reassigned by his community in May and is no longer residing in London.

Bishop Fabbro announces the following pastoral appointments and changes which will be effective July 4, 2016 unless otherwise noted. Additional appointments and changes will be announced as they become available.

New Episcopal Vicars for the Windsor and Essex Deaneries and for the Francophone Community

Rev. Daniel Bombardier has been appointed Episcopal Vicar for Essex and Episcopal Vicar for Windsor for a five-year term. I am very grateful to Fr. Bombardier for accepting this position. Fr. Bombardier, currently Parish Administrator of Mary Immaculate Parish, London has also been appointed Parish Administrator of St. John Vianney Parish, Windsor.

Rev. James Roche has served as Episcopal Vicar for Windsor since 2005. I am very grateful to Fr. Roche for the exemplary service he has given our diocese as Episcopal Vicar for these many years. When Rev. Patrick Fuerth recently completed his term as Episcopal Vicar for Essex, Rev. Thomas Blondin accepted to serve as Episcopal Vicar. I am very grateful to Fr. Blondin for generously serving in this office.

Rev. Kathemo Mukucha, S.X., has been appointed Episcopal Vicar for the Francophone Community for a five-year term. I am very grateful to Fr. Mukucha for accepting this position.

Rev. Eugene Roy has served as Episcopal Vicar for the Francophone Community since 1999. I am very grateful to Fr. Roy for the exemplary service he has give our diocese as Episcopal Vicar for these many years.

The appointments of Fr. Roche, Fr. Blondin and Fr. Roy as Episcopal Vicars will end on July 4, 2016.

Pastoral Appointments and Changes 

Rev. Nelson Cabral, currently Pastor of St. John Vianney Parish, Windsor has been appointed Parish Administrator of Holy Cross Parish, London.

Rev. Benjamin Raze, currently Parish Administrator of Holy Cross Parish, London has been appointed Parish Administrator of Mary Immaculate Parish, London.

Rev. Brian McColl, currently Parish Administrator of the clustered parishes of St. James, Seaforth and St. Patrick, Dublin is returning to his home diocese of Peterborough.

Rev. Raju Allumpurath, MST, currently Associate Pastor of the clustered parishes of Our Lady Help of Christians, Wallaceburg, Holy Family, Wallaceburg and Sacred Heart, Port Lambton has been appointed Parish Administrator of the clustered parishes of St. Patrick, Dublin and St. James, Seaforth.

Rev. Gerard Bedard, currently Associate Pastor at Corpus Christi Parish, Windsor has been appointed Parochial Vicar of the clustered parishes of Our Lady Help of Christians, Wallaceburg, Holy Family, Wallaceburg and Sacred Heart, Port Lambton.

Rev. Christopher Pietraszko, currently Associate Pastor at St. Michael Parish, Leamington has been appointed Parochial Vicar of Corpus Christi Parish, Windsor.

Rev. Christian Gonzalez Campos, FMM, currently Associate Pastor of St. Michael Parish, Leamington and Priest-Chaplain to Migrant Workers is returning to his community in Guatemala on June 6, 2016, upon the request of his superior.

Rev. Eduardo Barrera, FMM, currently an Assistant Pastor in Santo Tomás Milpas Altas, Guatemala has been appointed Parochial Vicar of St. Michael Parish, Leamington and Priest-Chaplain to Migrant Workers. 

Rev. Pedro Zúñiga, FMM, currently Pastor of Parrocchia S. Maria Assunta in Cielo, Italy has been appointed Parochial Vicar of St. Michael Parish, Leamington.

Rev. Hugo Santa Cruz, FMM, currently Associate Pastor of Paroisse Saint-Constant in Saint-Constant, Quebec has been appointed Parochial Vicar of St. George Parish, London. He will reside at St. Francis of Assisi-St. Martin of Tours Parish, London.

Rev. Joseph Lam Tran, currently Priest-Chaplain of St. Philiphe and St. Ane Thanh Vietnamese Martyrs Catholic Community, Windsor, will return to the Archdiocese of Toronto with completion of a two-year agreement with our diocese.

Rev. Vincent T. Nguyen, CSJB, currently Assistant Pastor at St. Andrew Parish in Vancouver has been appointed Priest-Chaplain of St. Philiphe and St. Ane Thanh Vietnamese Martyrs Catholic Community, Windsor.

Rev. Slawomir Szwagrzyk, currently Pastor of Sacred Heart Parish, Langton and St. Michael Church, Walsh has been granted approval by Bishop Fabbro to assist in the Diocese of Whitehorse for 5 years.

Rev. Thomas Kuriacko, CST, currently Pastor of St. Mary Parish, West Lorne and St. Helen Church, Wallacetown, has been appointed Parish Administrator of Sacred Heart Parish, Langton and St. Michael Church, Walsh. 

Rev. Jan Pochwala, currently Priest-Chaplain of Queen of Peace Catholic Community, Sarnia has been appointed Parish Administrator of St. Mary Parish, West Lorne and St. Helen Church, Wallacetown.

Rev. Zbigniew Rodzinka, CSMA, currently Pastor of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish, London has been appointed Priest-Chaplain of Queen of Peace Catholic Community, Sarnia.

Rev. Eugeniusz Dziedzic, CSMA, currently Parochial Vicar of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish, London has been appointed Parish Administrator of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish, London.

Rev. Jan Burczyk, CSMA, currently Parish Administrator of St. Mary Parish, London has been appointed Parochial Vicar of St. Mary Parish, London and Parochial Vicar of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish, London; each appointment is half time.

Rev. Piotr Wojakiewicz, CSMA, currently Associate Pastor of St. Mary Parish, London has been appointed Parish Administrator of St. Mary Parish, London.

Rev. David Furlonger, CSsR, currently Parish Administrator of St. Patrick Parish, London is retiring and will reside in London.

Rev. Adam Gabriel, CSMA, currently Pastor of Saint Teresa Parish, Toronto has been appointed Parish Administrator of St. Patrick Parish, London.

Rev. Dariusz Lewandowski, CSMA, currently Pastor of St. Patrick Parish, Lucan is moving to the Archdiocese of Toronto upon the request of his superior.

Rev. Ross Bartley currently Pastor of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, Aylmer has been appointed Parish Administrator of St. Patrick Parish, Lucan. 

Rev. Ben Huyge currently Parochial Vicar of Holy Family Parish, London has been appointed Parish Administrator of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, Aylmer. 

Rev. David F. Johnston, ordained April 23, 2016, has been appointed Parochial Vicar of the clustered parishes of Sacred Heart, Sarnia and St. Michael, Brights Grove, effective June 1, 2016. 

Rev. Seejo John currently Parochial Vicar of the clustered parishes of Immaculate Conception and St. Joseph, Stratford has been appointed Parochial Vicar of Holy Family Parish, London.

Rev. David Butler currently Parish Administrator of the clustered parishes of St. Mary, Simcoe and St. Cecilia, Port Dover has been appointed Parochial Vicar of the clustered parishes of Immaculate Conception and St. Joseph, Stratford.

Rev. Alan Dufraimont, E. V., was appointed Parish Administrator of the clustered parishes of St. Mary, Simcoe and St. Cecilia, Port Dover on March 14, 2016, during Rev. David Butler’s leave for health reasons.  This appointment, along with his current appointment as Pastor of the clustered parishes of Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs Parish, Delhi and St. Bernard of Clarivaux, Waterford, will continue.

Rev. Lucio Couto has been appointed Parochial Vicar of the clustered parishes St. Mary, Simcoe and St. Cecilia, Port Dover, in addition to his current appointment as Parochial Vicar of the clustered parishes of Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs Parish, Delhi and St. Bernard of Clarivaux, Waterford.

Rev. Ranjan D’Sa, OCD, currently Pastor of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, London has been reassigned by his superior.

Rev. Jaison Tellis, OCD, currently Associate Pastor of St. Edmund Parish, North Vancouver has been appointed Parish Administrator of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, London.

St. Peter’s Seminary – Seminarian Pastoral Year Placements for 2016

Mr. Steven Eckert has been assigned to the clustered parishes of Our Lady Help of Christians, Wallaceburg, Holy Family, Wallaceburg and Sacred Heart, Port Lambton, under the supervision of Rev. Christopher Gillespie, effective August 1, 2016.
